Long Life
Looking out the window from my chair, wrapped in an afghan knitted by my great grandmother twenty years past, I sit in comfort and love. I am reminded of what a punk rocker by the name of Mike Herrera once said, "There's nothing quite like being sure of what's inside your heart."
Have you ever gazed at an old man, say, seated on a park bench in the mid hour of a sunny week day? Your mind may have attempted to gather all of the broken fragments of his life. Wonder fills your thoughts of days gone bye. The expressions upon his face give you educated guesses of a life lived. How far off those imagined life experiences may be from the truth, but the fact that he has lived through them....
I have lived through little. My knowledge is general, but sufficient. All of my fantasies and enwonderments are fulfilled by the knowledge of love that was given to me through Christ. You must see that I have read only so much. I have searched in science the truths of this world and through history the lessons learned. Through school and through family I have gathered up methods of living and of being. I have been told how life works and what is proper. I have found that none of this matters after knowing The Creator.
Think back at history lessons learned: place yourself within those cultures. Give yourself a trade, pretend you have mastered it and live. Success it not a treasure. Success will only leave you wanting. Do not strive for greatness, but recognize the greatness that is. I am sorry, greatness is not found within. Greatness is not all around. The life that is was set up long ago. The old man seated on that bench has seen that. He realizes that greatness was at his fingertips long ago. The disappointment of his strife has left him tired and sad.
I am seated on a cushioned chair. In this moment I am give the ability to grasp greatness. I know what is in my heart and that is great. "Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world." Sadness does not have to be yours. Do not reside yourself in it. On the earth there is much misery. I pray it be short lived. Breath a new breath, today.
